Why I Love Staying Home for Valentine's Day
I don’t know about you, but my Valentine’s Day every year is super casual. Chris and I stay in for the night - he makes me Angel Hair Pasta in a garlic butter sauce with pancetta and a glass of my favorite Sauvignon Blanc - St. Supery. We have so many things to celebrate in the New Year, our anniversary, my birthday (February 17), and Chris’s birthday in March. Sometimes it can be celebration overload which is why I love our low key Valentine’s night in. And I really look forward to our V-Day tradition where Chris cooks for me!
Today I wanted to share with you a cute but casual look for Valentine’s Day that you probably have in your closet right now. A black turtleneck is such a wardrobe staple, but I didn’t have one until a few weeks ago. I finally found one at Marshall’s that was just right - soft and cozy but not see-through like some other ones I tried on. This one is by Bass - I got it on clearance, but linked something similar: here and here.
My jeans have been featured on the blog before and they are pretty much the only ones I wear. I love the dark wash and that they come in and that they offer high rise and tall sizes for my long legs! They do stretch out a bit after wear so you may want to consider a size down.
I also hope you love these new pumps as much as I do. I got them right after Christmas after spotting someone else wearing them at a party! They are the 12 hour Madison pump from Banana Republic and I’ve already worn them at work all day long. I wanted to add a burgundy shoe to my collection and know I will have these for a long time. They come in many different colors and patterns - my two other favorites are the BR March Floral and Grey Lace.
My clock necklace is vintage - a gift from my mom that she got from her mom when she made the National Honor Society in High School. Hi Mom! But here’s something similar. And my earrings are Banana Republic - of course! But you can also find a similar pair here.
